During design school, I had the privilege to play—I learned to enjoy the process of creating and curated some of my favorite smaller-scale projects.
Visit Seattle — A redesign of visitseattle.org with a goal to highlight and encourage the exploration of Seattle's unique neighborhoods.
Safe Parking Programs — An illustration that shows what amenities a religious organization might need to host vehicle residents at their facility. Commissioned by Karen Cheng & ITFH (Interfaith Task Force on Homelessness).
The Wok of Life — A recipe app for homemade Chinese food. Although the content, images, and name were taken from an existing food blog, I took charge of the branding, typography, user interface, and prototyping.
Mastering English: A Work in Progress— A publication that visualizes my English-learning journey through typographic expressions. Written & hand-bound by me.
Clock-Wise — A minimalist alarm clock app that allows users who need more than 1 alarm to wake up to set multiple alarms in one go.
Seattle Rebrand — A rebrand for the City of Seattle to present it as a vibrant, beautiful, and friendly city. The objective was to showcase Seattle's strengths, such as its close proximity to nature, and to help it move away from having a depressing or unfriendly image.
Countdown — A countdown video with custom numbers that are made of geometric shapes.
His Word Found Here — A lockup concept for my capstone, which envisions a conference on faith + creativity. This direction didn't make it to the cut, but the idea was to blend a defined component that represents faith, with an abstract component that represents creativity.
Evoke — A conference Identity on happiness that involves the use of vibrant colors, organic illustrations, and hand-drawn letters.
Lunchbox — A lunchbox made out of cardboard that is structurally sound, easily stackable, and saves space. It can be easily held when closed, and it turns into a mini food stand when opened, fostering a more wholesome, interactive eating experience.
Vehicle Residency — An infographic that educates the public about Seattle's vehicle homelessness and advocates for the implementation of Safe Parking Programs.
Pattern-Making — An exercise to create a pattern using letters from different typefaces.
Title for the Piece — Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit.
Get Out the Vote! — A poster designed to urge students to vote at the 2018 midterms by stressing voting as a way to preserve press freedom and counter the president’s attack on the media. The poster was showcased for 2 weeks at the Parnassus Cafe & Gallery at UW.
Yelp — Logo redesign for Yelp, inspired by the numerous ways it may serve the user: as a menu (since most people use it for getting food/drinks), a map (for it leads the user to discover hidden gems), and a guide (because it ultimately helps city-dwellers navigate an otherwise overwhelming urban life).
Theophilus — A typeface inspired by carved letters found at the First Church of Christ. We started by hand drawing the letters, then scanning the refined letters, and at last tracing out the scan files on Glyphs Mini. Team: Mary Wojnar, Sara Tieu, Ariel Chan, & Cynthia He.
